Frostburg State women picked fifth in AMCC preseason poll
The Frostburg State University women's basketball team has been picked to finish fifth in the 2007-08 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference preseason coaches poll.The Bobcats return three starters and eight letterwinners from last year's sqaud that posted a 17-9 overall record and finished fourth in the conference with a 12-6 mark. For the third-consecutive season, Medaille is the favorite to win the women's title. The Lady Mavericks(23-5, 17-1) captured last year's AMCC Tournament with a 66-39 win over Penn State Behrend in the championship game. In the NCAA Tournament, Medaille was defeated by Cortland State in the first round (72-67).Pitt-Greensburg senior guard Tiffany Menhorn is the Preseason Player of the Year after earning first team All-AMCC honors for the past two seasons. Menhorn averaged 14.6 points and 5.8 rebounds per game last year.FSU players to watch this season are senior forward Amanda LaPorta who averaged 10.4 points and three rebounds per game last season.
